The rule the whole platform is built around: a legal figure appears only after it has been confirmed against an official source and dated. Where that has not happened, the page says so and shows nothing in its place. There are no estimates here and no ranges invented to fill a gap.
01Who is responsible
DUI.law is published by AJK Media, Inc. and the named, accountable author of its content is Antonio G. Jimenez, Esq., Florida Bar No. 21022. That link goes to the Florida Bar’s own record, not to a page we control, so the credential can be checked independently.
He is a Florida attorney. That is a real limit and it is stated rather than blurred: this site publishes information about all fifty states and the District of Columbia, and being licensed in one of them does not make anyone an authority on the other fifty. What the byline signifies is editorial responsibility for what is published, not licensure everywhere it applies.
02Where the figures come from
Statutory and administrative figures — per-se limits, hearing windows, suspension lengths, penalty ranges, lookback periods, interlock requirements — are read from a structured legal database maintained across this group of platforms. Each value carries its citation, the official source URL, and the date it was last verified, and all three are displayed with the figure.
Nothing on a page is typed in by hand. A value is either read from that layer with its provenance, or it does not appear.
03How explanatory pages are written
Guides, concept pages and glossary entries are drafted with the help of an AI model, working only from official statute text retrieved for that page. Each statute a page names is listed with a link to its official source, and is presented as one state’s rule — never as a description of the law everywhere.
These pages explain; they do not state figures. Deadlines, limits and penalty ranges appear only on the state pages, read from the structured legal database with their source and date. An explanatory page that contains a number, an unsourced statement about what states do, or any of the language described below is rejected automatically and never published.
Pages on the most sensitive subjects — injury or death, young drivers, children in the vehicle, and immigration consequences — are published only after attorney review. A page shows a review date only when that review actually happened.
04What an absent figure means
Most figures on this site are currently absent, and the pages say so. That is the system working, not failing.
- Not published yet — the value has not been confirmed against an official source and dated. We would rather show nothing.
- Unsettled — the statute does not answer the question cleanly, and stating a number would invent a certainty that does not exist.
- Interpreted by courts — the answer turns on how courts have read the provision, which is a question for a lawyer in that state.
An absent figure is a worse page and a better answer than a wrong one. On a subject where the cost of a wrong number can be someone’s licence or their job, that trade is not close.
05Language rules
Consumer copy is checked automatically before it can ship. The build fails on language that:
- predicts or guarantees an outcome
- tells a reader they qualify for something, or are protected, or are safe
- encourages anyone to handle a criminal case without a lawyer
- moralises about the arrest, or minimises it
- offers false comfort about timing
The last two are specific to this platform. The reader here is frequently employed, insured, facing a first arrest and frightened about their licence and their job — and often rejects the “criminal” label entirely. The register that follows is meant to meet that reader without judgement and without softening what is at stake.
06What this platform will not publish
Some things are excluded permanently, regardless of demand for them: tools that estimate blood-alcohol concentration or advise whether someone is able to drive; material about defeating or beating a test; the locations of enforcement activity; and anything else whose function is to help someone drive impaired or avoid enforcement.
Educational material about the law itself — whether a practice is lawful in a state, and what rights exist — is a different thing and is published.
07Corrections
If something here is wrong, we would like to know. Write to antonio@dui.law with the page and, where possible, the official source. Corrections to a legal figure are made at the data layer, so the fix reaches every page that uses it rather than only the one that was reported.
